I was flipping channels, watching this cheerleading program on MTV. They took a field hockey girl and “transformed” her into a cheerleader by the end of the show. I was just wondering: what if she liked field hockey better?

When you think about it, the idea of trying to make a sport/activity you don’t like a lot more appealing is a pretty silly thing to do. But, when you’re a kid, it makes sense. You may not have any real experience with the sport or activity in question, but your mind is filled with all kinds of great ideas. I mean, why wouldn’t you want to make a sport/activity you don’t like more appealing? In this case, the field hockey girl in the cheerleading movie was trying to make cheerleading more appealing by becoming a cheerleader.

She was inspired by seeing that transformation in a TV show and went on to try and emulate it herself. But, in the process she realized that her true passion was field hockey and so she gave up on cheerleading. I really don’t think she was being silly at all.
